You are the Salt of the Earth – Mathew 5:13
What is Salt? A salt is a substance that adds taste to something. When you are cooking a meal and you add salt to it, it improves the taste of the food. If you take a close look at the scripture (Mathew 5: 13) Jesus did not say you can be the salt of the earth. He made a bold declaration, He said “You are the salt of the earth”.
Jesus is basically telling us who we are on earth. That’s a bold statement! That’s a purpose statement! That’s an assignment statement! Jesus did not make that statement to us so we can feel good about it or about ourselves. You are the salt of the earth; That’s an assignment that reawakens purpose in you.
Jesus further says in the scripture but If salt has lost its taste how shall its saltness be restored. Jesus is asking us a question guys. Well, I have never seen salt loose its taste, never, I don’t know about you, but I have never. How do you lose your salt? You lose your salt when you do not recognise or acknowledge the purpose or assignment that God has for you. You lose your salt; you lose your relevance or flavour and if you lose your flavour how will people taste godliness? (That’s a question for the timeline).
May we never loose our taste/relevance in Jesus’ name…. Amen!
You are the Light of the world – Mathew 5: 14-16
You are the light of the world! This is another assignment/purpose statement. Jesus basically meant you are here to be light and to bring out the God colors in the world (amazing). Okay, what is Light?
- Light is revelation
- Light is truth
- Light attracts
- Light is vision
- Light exposes
- Light brings clarity
- Light defines
- Light is truth in love
- Light manifest
- Light is Joy
As lights of the world, we are sent by God to reveal, to expose, to bring to clarity, to define, to lead in love, to attract, to bring Joy. We are sent to be and bring God colors in the world. Jesus said let your light so shine; let your character so shine, let your actions so shine, let your words(speech) so shine, let your conversations so shine, let your mindset so shine, let your intentions so shine, let your fruits so shine, let your attitude at your Job, business so shine, let your prayer life so shine before men so that they may see your good works/fruitful works and give glory to God. Friends as children of God we do not live for ourselves, our lives are supposed to be pleasing unto God, the bible says in 2Corinth2:15 “For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” NLT translation say “Our lives are a Christ like fragrance rising up to God”. Our lives ought to be a sweet-smelling savor unto God, so if our lives are not pleasing or giving glory unto God, then it is pleasing and giving glory unto something else.
Guys, God is not a secret to be kept. We are going public with this as public as a city on a hill #makingthegospeltrend#… Let’s be generous with our colored lives. By opening to others, you will prompt people to open up with God. Hallelujah!!
