Confidence In God

Hello everyone how’s your day going.. :)… So we are still studying Exodus and here’s a summary from Exodus 3 and 4… As usual, enjoy your read!…. looool

The book of Exodus 3: 1 says ”Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law”. What does it mean to tend to something or someone? This means paying attention to and dealing with the problems/needs of something or someone. The Bible shows us that Moses was paying attention to his business when God interrupted him to get his attention. God needed to get Moses’s attention to give him instructions on how to deliver his people.

In vs 11 of Exodus 3, the bible said ”Moses said to God Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt”. God sent Moses into the house of Pharoah to go bring back his people(the Israelites). Moses feared God and understood that it was God who sent him but I don’t think he was fully confident of the power that was going to go with him. A lot of us are at this table, we are able to recognize God’s voice but we are not confident in the person and the power that is with us. As children of God, we are connected to God in almost everything, when God appeared to Moses in a flame of fire at Horem(the mountain of God) Moses struggled with obedience and accepting the instruction God had given because he had his shortcomings. He was a stammered, murderer and clearly did not want to go back to Egypt not because of Pharoah but because he had killed someone. Moses had disqualified himself already.

For you to be able to do and sustain what God has called you to do, you have to first depend on God and you need grace more than self-confidence, you need the God kind of confidence- the boldness that only God gives. The Bible says For God hath not given us the spirit of bondage again to fear but he has given us the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba Father. God’s instruction and plans for our lives most times could be way above us, but when God calls a person to serve him, He will always empower and enable his servant to become successful in everything he does.

In as much as Moses lacked confidence and claimed to be inadequate, God still proved himself to Moses. The signs given to Moses were for his sake, it was to prove that God was with him. Moses had quite a lot of excuses for why he didn’t want to go back to Egypt and vs 14 of chapter 4 says ”So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses – God’s anger is one of the most misunderstood aspects of His love. When Moses encountered God’s anger, it was not unto wrath but the intensity of the loving God. Moses was on the verge of missing a great destiny. Rather than leave Moses to his mediocre existence, God flashed his anger in an attempt to capture Moses’s attention and provoke him to obedience. This was not because God wanted his will to be done at all costs but because He cared enough for Moses not to let him miss an opportunity.

”The anger of the Lord is not to be avoided; it is to be embraced for it is God’s protective love in action”- Copied. God does not become angry towards us; He becomes angry for us because He does not want us to miss the best.

Thank you!
