Why do we worry?

In Mathew 6, Jesus is continuing His sermon on the Mount that began in chapter 5, He’d finished speaking about money and possessions when He journeys into the topic of worry. He said do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, drink, or put on and he asked a question Is life not more than food and the body not more than clothing?

What does it mean to be anxious- This Means to be disturbed, worried, perplexed, to be uneasy?  Now if you noticed in vs 25 Jesus mentioned what you shall eat, drink, or put on, and just for the records, these are necessary basic things to live by. For you to eat, drink or look good you probably will need to have a job or a business. Now Jesus is saying if you do not have or cannot afford these necessities now do NOT WORRY OR BE ANXIOUS about it. (I know, easier said). But Jesus said your heavenly father knows, that is, He is consciously aware that you need or require all these things.

If our heavenly father know that you need to eat, drink, look good, He also is aware that we will need a contract, a job, business, connection, even getting blessed randomly by someone. What point is Jesus trying to make? Jesus used necessary basic things to give us illustrations on the mind of God concerning anxiety!

Jesus emphasized never to be anxious even on a normal day. He advised us not to fear nor worry because if we do the situation is not going to change. I am very certain a lot of us are on this table, we worry over almost everything, that may never even happen you know, our minds take a fast sprint on things that we do not have control over. I will tell you something, Anxiety /worry is a demon! It robs you off your moment of Joy. It does not make you see or appreciate who you are and makes you see what you think you do not have. Anxiety/worry is an attack on our Joy!

There are times in our lives when we have some legitimate concerns where things are headed either for us or our loved ones. The apostle Paul says in Philippians 4:19 that God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. God’s provision does not mean we will get everything we want. (That hurts…) Paul wrote in Philippians 4:19. Yet he still recognized that all his spiritual needs were met in Christ. The same is true for us, when we abide in Him, we’ll have everything we need.

Mathew 6 vs 32 says, “For the gentiles seek all these things: and your heavenly father knows that you need them all”. Okay, who are the gentiles/heathens? Jesus said they pursue after these things, and they make sure they go at any length to get it. Jesus further said He has an alternative to worrying about our needs, He mentioned that He has a simpler route or way for us to get all these and more…. Interesting…okay I promise not to keep you waiting let’s find out… He said “But seek first the kingdom and his righteousness and all these things shall be yours as well”

Quick question pls… Do you know what it means to seek? I will just find out never mind😊. This means to aim at, to strive after, to pursue, to go after. What is the Kingdom of God? It is a territory, authority ruled by God. The bible says seek first His kingdom, this means to desire, pursue, go after the things that are in the territory of God… seeking the things that are above e.g., Soulwinning, giving, helping the needy, to desire after godly things and His righteousness (His way of doing things right) all these things will be added to you.

Friends let us mind the business of God and strive to please him in all things. Jesus has given us the answer to receive all that we need, trust me friends we need Him more than anything. Also pray instead of worrying, entertain healthy/positive thought instead of worrying, and live grateful!

I love you All!
