Sacrifice and Service

The worlds concept that greatness is defined by high position is squarely confronted by our Lord Jesus Christ. True greatness in Gods Kingdom come through sacrificial service just like our father Jesus, He chose to be a servant reconciling us to God Phil 2:5-8. The bible lets us know to think of ourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of Himself. Jesus had equal status with God but did not think so much of himself that he had to clinge to the advantages of that status no matter what. When the time came He set aside the privilege’s of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human. Having become human he stayed human(that is in as much as He is the son of God, Jesus did not try to Lord it over anyone, not even his disciples). This is an incredibly humbling process!! He did not claim special privilege’s instead He lived a selfless life and then died a selfless death.

Service and sacrifice are two essential elements of godly reconciliation. Christlikeness leads to servanthood, for Jesus came not to be served but to serve. As a child of God our character should reveal devotion to the interest of others, thoughtfulness of rendering care and happiness of someone else besides our self. Conclusively, the measure for success as children of God is not in how we rule but in how we serve….
