Bond Servants Of Christ

Paul is one of my favorite man in the bible (do you want to know why?.. I will tell you..lol) he used his intelligence to serve God and he always defended the gospel of Christ. A long time ago, Paul wrote a letter to the church of Galatia, in the letter he expressed disappointment because he was marvelled that the people were gradually turning away quickly from Jesus and the gospel of Christ to a different gospel. Paul was aware that there were manipulators and look-alike of people who thought they knew and understood the gospel, but he had to remind them that anyone preaching to them a gospel other than what they have received should be condemned to destruction, in other words should be silenced.

The gospel of Jesus brings salvation and informs us of our inheritance in Christ Jesus. God is not a respecter of persons. In as much as the gospel is for us it is not tailored to please us but to please God alone. Paul saw that the gospel that was taking over Galatia was giving a false identity to the gospel of Christ,it was deviating from its purpose and now attending to the convenience of men seeking their approval instead of God. Paul then had to throw the question to them,”Are we trying to win favour and approval from men or God”? Paul did give an answer to them, he said if i still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Who is a Bond servant? This means one bound to service without wage. This could contain synonyms as slave or serf, but we as believers i think we are servants of Christ with wage. The scripture mentioned that God will never forget our labour of love, so whatever we do for God He never forgets. However we are not to be too conscious of the ”Reward”‘whatever role or activity we do for the body of Christ, we should have it at the back of our mind that it is a service unto God. Okay question for the timeline( What is service unto God?), what does it really mean to serve God. Is it just a duty or is it a form of worship, reverence to a sovereign being? Well, yes it is worship/reverence for God, but broadly speaking service unto God is a way of life.

Our everyday life should be knitted unto service to God. The scripture says to present our bodies(bodies here does not only mean parts of our body) but our entire being as a spiritual worship. Your everyday routine should be service unto God. The bible says as He is so are we,as God is so are we; Gods eyes which is now our eyes should serve God,we are not allowed to watch any kind of videos,God’s mouth which is now our mouth should serve God,the bible says in Matthew 12:36”But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken”.Our words should be seasoned with salt and our conversations full of Grace, (Col 4:6),our intelligence should serve God,our entire being should be an incense unto God; so you see service unto God is a way of life. Furthermore, working in God’s house is GREAT, but that should not entirely become what service to God should be. What happens after you’re done working in God’s house? Does your life still serve God?

Conclusively, as a bondservant of Christ,God is King and our rewards may not be what or how we expect it. It could be God pruning us for what is ahead of us. Our character, attitude could be polished as result of being in service(bond servant) to God so that we could be fit for what God has for us. So you see there is still a reward!!
